Banned

[edit]

Heard on the news that Trump banned the holiday, somebody ought to look into this. Hyperbolick (talk) 03:32, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please read wp:rs and wp:or, where did you hear it, what news show? Slatersteven (talk) 10:47, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Citation quality for 2025 Banning

[edit]

The provided source could be significantly improved. It should be possible to directly cite the official U.S. Government document (Executive Order) from the Federal Register, rather than relying on an interpretation from NBC News. There appears to be no evidence of an explicit reference to Juneteenth in the Executive Order linked by the cited NBC News article ("Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing"). If Juneteenth remains a federal holiday, what does it mean to say that President Trump "banned" it? The current citation does not substantiate the claim that Juneteenth has been "banned." I have modified the statement to better represent the source, although I am not convinced it belongs in the lead. Alanscottwalker (talk) 16:04, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No it does not, it is one line. Slatersteven (talk) 16:07, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now two lines, but feel free to move it and otherwise edit it. Alanscottwalker (talk) 16:22, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
